A very interesting read. If you like to read snappy fast witted books, then I got one for you or rather Philip Whiteland does. I found I like these type of stories if done correctly and Mr. Whiteland proves he has the skill to pull it off. Jambalaya is a fast pace read to take you away from the humdrum day. You have to like to move from characters to narrator and back with ease to follow some of his great puns. I would have titled the book- The misadventures of Miss Celany Garden. But, no matter she gets her man in the end on the story. So if your into her heaving bosoms or his tight firm.... Ain’t no spoilers here. Whether you on the side of the North or South.. "Jambalaya” by Philip Whitehead just might be the quirky fun read you’ve been looking for. He doesn't tend to tell too many people about this as he is acutely aware of their eyes glazing over as he speaks. He has occasionally been accused of humour. "Steady Past Your Granny's" was Philip's first, self-published, collection of 'nostalgedy' stories. Closely followed by 'Crutches for Ducks' which continued the memoirs. Has just published his first foray into full-length humorous fiction, 'Jambalaya'.
